Willow class, 8th – 12th June 2026

This week in Willow Class we will be:

English: In English, Willow will be continuing to write their balanced arguments on whether gorillas should be kept in captivity or not.

Maths: In maths, Willow will be moving on to look at volume; how we measure volume and capacity and looking at estimating these things.

Science – In Science this week willow are going to be dissecting a flower to find the various parts of its reproductive system. We will also be learning about cloning.

Big Question: If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?

Have a look below to see what we’ve been up to this week:

In History this week, we explored what Anglo-Saxon clothing would have been like. We then experimented with dyeing white wool using natural dyes – onion skins, blackcurrants and red cabbage. We will now use this wool for weaving on the enrichment day.

We had another great session of Forest School –  we made damper bread and cooked it over the fire and went bug hunting. Willow found some lesser stag beetles under the logs of the fire circle!

As part of our debate into whether gorillas should be kept in captivity, we split into two groups to discuss points for and against before holding a second debate. The weather was so nice we decided to do this outside.

In Music, Willow performed songs to their classmates. Well done for doing so with such confidence!
