Willow Class, 2nd – 4th September 2026

This week in Willow Class we will be:

English: In English, Willow will be looking at the book Curiosity. This tells the story of the rover through its eyes. We will continue to immerse ourselves in the text before starting to analyse the text and vocabulary.

Maths: In maths, we will be looking at the place value of digits; looking at partitioning large numbers into their various parts. For example, hundred thousands, thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.

Science – In Science this week we will be looking at forces being pushes and pulls. This week’s lesson will focus on air resistance.

Big Question: Why is it important to have rules?

Have a look below to see what we’ve been up to this week:

In art this week, we looked at the prize winning painter, Chris Ofili. Willow then experimented drawing abstract ideas. They then put these onto card; layering up different mediums if they wanted to.

On Friday, we looked at friction in science. We experimented with the book test (hopefully your child will be able to tell you all about this). We also did a little experiment using a ramp, ice cube and a rubber to see which had more friction between the different surfaces.
