This week, we have been learning…

UTW~ Polar Regions

We located the Polar regions on our class map and learnt about how these parts of the world have cold climates. We talked about the animals that live there and how people visit there and live there. We engaged in a variety of themed activities in our provision to learn more including a polar animals number hunt, balancing penguins on a wobbly iceberg, ice exploration and some snow flake painting.

Literacy

We read the story Poles Apart all about a penguin family who got lost and ended up in the Arctic but finds their way home travelling across the world with a friendly polar bear. We discovered a letter from the penguins explaining they had left their egg when travellin* through England and asked the Acorns to take care of it. We were very excited and spent lots of time thinking about how to care for it. We drew what we thought the baby penguin will look like and wrote our predictions.

Art

We made our own colony of penguins! We practised our scissor skills by drawing outlines and cutting around them and then assembling them with glue. We loved how original they are were and so much creativity and stickability used!
