UTW- Life Cycles
This week, we have been learning about the butterfly life cycle. We read the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and then talked about the process from egg to butterfly like in the story. Mrs Marsden revealed a surprise- our very own live caterpillars! We are so excited to see them grow and form chrysalises and then butterflies over the next few weeks!
Challenge Mountain
We have been working hard on our independence recently and so this week, we introduced the Acorns to the challenge mountain. Each week, the Acorns will need to complete 5 challenges to reach the top of our mountain. These are all challenges spread over our continuous provision and will be a range of activities and skills. The Acorns took on this challenge with enthusiasm and it has been lovely to see the Acorns visiting lots of different areas in the classroom to complete their challenges. Our theme for the challenges this week was ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.
Literacy
This week we have been learning about instructions. Mrs Marsden had completely forgotten how to plant a seed as so the Acorns had to instruct her how to do it. They were experts from all their seed planting last week! We wrote the instructions, remembering the order and using our phoneme fingers to segment. We tried to remember our capital letters and full stops in our Superwriter toolkit too!
