Acorn Class 26th-30th April

Forest Schools

It was an exciting week this week for us Acorns- it was our first Forest School session! We were so excited and it was all we could talk about all morning. We met Holly, our Forest school leader, and learnt about what we would be exploring. We absolutely loved it! We build dens, experimented with the hand drills and the loppers, went pond dipping, climbed trees, swung in the hammocks and made mud pies. What an afternoon!

We have been learning about jungles this week! We have found where there are jungles and rainforests across the world and talked about what it would be like to visit one. We focused on the animals we would find there and decided to paint some pictures of the jungle animals. We also made a jungle themed small world on the tuff tray- we added some Gelli-Baff for a swamp like feature. We enjoyed how messy it was!!!

Maths- Captain Tom 100 Challenge

Acorn took on the Captain Tom 100 Challenge today for our Maths lesson. We counted 100 objects, we walked 100 steps across the school field and then we completed a beanbag challenge where we took it in turns to throw beanbags into the hoop until we reached 100! Even Mrs Lamb came and helped us out! We loved learning about 100!
