UTW- Space
This week we learnt all about rockets and astronauts. We learnt about how rockets blast up into space and what each part of a rocket does. We decided to make our own rockets. We put our creativity skills to the test and set about making rockets that could blast all the way to the moon! Later on we learnt about what astronauts do, learning about famous astronauts such as Neil Armstrong, Mae Jemison and Tim Peake. We watched a video of how Tim Peake made his breakfast whilst in space and decided to make own astronaut food!
World Book Day
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day. We all dressed up and were excited to show off our costumes. We went to the hall and played a game of ‘The Masked Reader’. The children found it very funny to try and work out which teacher was behind the mask! We then went on a parade around the playground so all the children in the school could see our costumes. We also invited Lime class to come and read to us. It was lovely to see the classroom full of the buzz of reading!
Maths- The ten shop
We have been working on representations of 9 and 10 this week and finding different ways to make these numbers. On Friday, we opened up ‘The Ten Shop’ where everything you buy has to add up to 10. The Acorns had fun finding different objects that showed ten and then we challenged them to find two or 3 objects that add together to make 10.
