Acorn Class 27th June- 1st July 2022

Health and Fitness Week

This week, the Acorns have taken part in a variety of activities as part of our whole school Health and Fitness week. It has been a very busy week off timetable but lots of fun!

Seed to Tree- Walk to Golden Wood

As part of Lawshall’s Seed to Tree programme, Acorn class walked through the village and were introduced to Golden Wood. We really enjoyed learning about the different plants and animals we can find there and visited some very special trees.

Whole School Picnic, Parachute, Playground games and the water race!

On Monday afternoon, we made a healthy picnic and joined the rest of the school to enjoy eating our picnic on the school field. We played some games and enjoyed playing with the parachute. We also released our butterflies – so exciting! Finally we had a go at the infamous water race- the Acorns were superstars!

Speed Stacking

Mrs M taught us how to speed stack. We practised a 3 stack and found it really tricky to use alternate hands. We used our stickability and kept practising and then managed to learn the 6 stack. We finished with a challenge to make the tallest towers! This was very, very popular!!!

Fancy Dress Sponsored Walk & Football Practise

We took part in a whole school fancy dress sponsored walk- we loved showing off our costumes to each other. We did a costume parade around the playground and then set off around the course to see how many laps we could do in the time given. The Acorns were full of enthusiasm for this and all did nearly 10 laps!!

We then got changed into our P.E kits for a football practise with our sports coach Josh. We dribbled the ball and practised kicking and aiming the ball at cones.

Sports Day

On Friday, we took part in sports day. We were so excited to see all our friends and families come to watch us. We did a parade around the track first and then sat in our teams. We then took part in a variety of races including sprint, sack race, egg and spoon, cross country and the bean bag throw. The Acorns made us so so proud with their enthusiasm and determination to have a go!! Well done Acorns!!
