Acorn Class 28th November-2nd December 2022

UTW- Science

This week we were scientists. We have been learning about magnets and experimented with what materials it is attracted to. We placed magnets over several different objects and discussed what happened. We discovered that magnets are attracted to metal. We then went exploring round the classroom to discover other items made of metal. There was lot’s of enthusiasm and interest in this activity!

Decorating Gingerbread Men

We have been enjoying the story of the Gingerbread Man over the past few weeks. We have read the story, made story maps, retold the story and innovated the story. This week we baked our own gingerbread men! We read and followed instructions on how to bake them and then once they were baked, we decorated them. We had so much fun icing them and it was a very good finger gym challenge too! We finished off by eating them- yum yum yum!

Santa's Workshop

Christmas has come to Acorn class this week! The Acorns were excited to discover that our class role play area had been turned into a Santa’s Workshop complete with toy assembly area and wrapping station. The Acorns have taken the job of being Santa’s helpers very seriously and have been very busy designing, making, decorating and wrapping presents.

Our Trip to the Panto

On Friday, the whole school went on a visit to the theatre to watch the pantomime ‘Robin Hood’. The Acorns were so excited! We went on a coach and then sat in our special seats at the theatre. We laughed, we sang, we danced- we loved it!
