UTW - Kings Coronation
We have been celebrating the Kings Coronation this week and our challenge mountain challenges are royally themed. We have been making numicon crowns, sorting the crown jewels into real and nonsense words and building palaces fit for a king. It has been great to see some of our learning behaviours in action- we have seen co-operation, stickability and independence. Well done Acorns!
On Friday afternoon we celebrated the Kings Coronation with the rest of the school. We learnt all about what will happen in the Coronation and what special objects we will see as we watch. We then went to the classrooms in mixed year groups to make crowns and flags. The weather wasn’t on our side so instead of doing a parade on the playground, we decided to show off our crowns in the hall, finishing with a class photo with the throne!!
Maths
This week has been all about spatial awareness and reasoning. We have been learning to manipulate, rotate and match shapes to make pictures, understanding that shapes are still a shape in different orientations and sizes. We used tangrams for this. We picked a picture and then matched the shapes to make a picture. It was definitely a bit tricky, but we really enjoyed trying to make the pictures.
