Forest Schools
We had our first Forest Schools session this week – we were so excited. We met Holly our forest school leader and she introduced us our school’s special forest school area. We went on a leaf hunt first and then made up our own forest names. We spent the afternoon swinging in the hammock, examining bones, drilling, hammering, making flower prints and going on mud slides. We used curiosity and cooperation by taking turns and asking lots of questions. Our favourite thing to do was definitely making leaf soap- our hands have never been so clean.
We finished the session with a hot chocolate and made Mrs Marsden and Mrs Jackson some nettle tea- not so yummy!!
Topic
In Topic we have been busy learning about flowers and plants and what they need to grow. We read the story Jack and the Beanstalk and decided to grow our own beanstalks. We learnt about the bean life cycle and watched a time lapse video of a bean stalk growing. We each planted our own beans and look forward to watching them grow.
We have been working hard on our class planter and have planted some more flowers, herbs and tomato plants.
