Next week, we are learning....
Literacy– Next week, we will be reading the story ‘My Pet Star’ by Corrinne Averiss. We will be creating our own pet stars and writing about adventures we will go on with them.
Maths– Next week, we will be focusing on numbers 9 and 10. We will be comparing and creating different representations of these numbers and focusing on finding one more and one less than these numbers.
Phonics– Next week, we will continue Phase 3 Mastery of our phonics programme Unlocking Letters and Sounds. We will be revisiting the phonemes oi, ow, ear, air and common exception words ‘are’ and ‘you’.
Topic/UTW– We will be learning about astronauts and rockets this week linking to the theme of Space. We will be looking at famous astronauts in history and what you need to do in order to become a astronaut. We will be creating our own space rockets using junk modelling, using some joining skills we have learnt in previous EAD lessons.
This week, we are learning....
UTW- Pancake Day
We learnt about Shrove Tuesday and why it is celebrated it every year. We opened up ‘Acorn Pancake Cafe’ for the morning! Each Acorn was invited to write their order of what toppings they want for their pancake and put it into the order form. The ‘Pancake Kitchen’ opened and each Acorn picked an order form to make a pancake for their friend. We served it at the eating table- yum yum yum!
Maths
We have been talking about time this week in Maths. We ordered the days of the week and used the vocabulary today, tomorrow and yesterday. We then learnt how long 1 minute is and used the sand timers to complete 1 minute challenges. We wrote our names, built a tower and raced the scooters around the outside area.
World Book Day
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day with the rest of the school. We had an assembly and took part in a masked reader game to guess which teacher was behind the mask. We had a parade on the playground to admire all the amazing costumes. We also enjoyed a book scavenger hunt and some shared reading time with our friends in Lime Class.
