Topic
This week we have been continuing to learn about hot climates and have been focused on the country of Africa. We have been reading a story called ‘Bringing the Rain to the Kapiti Plain’ which is based in Kenya. We have been learning about the animals that live there and used our imagination to be tourists and ‘visit’ the Kapiti Plain Tourist centre. We went on walking tours and driving tours in our very own safari jeep to see what animals we could find!
EAD- Art
We have been learning about cold and hot climates this half term and this led to a discussion about which colours do we think of when thinking about being hot and cold. We collected different materials in the colours we picked and then learnt about how to make a collage. We talked about how to assemble and overlap the pieces of materials we had found. Some of us made hot collages and some of us made cold collages!
EAD- Music
We start every music lesson with different types of music to listen to and discuss. This week’s was ‘Conga’ by Miami Sound Machine and this song most certainly got the Acorns moving and shaking! Mrs M showed them the classic Conga dance and it has been the dance move of choice for the rest of the week! Later on in the lesson, we learnt to play the xylophones to the tune of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle’ which led to the Acorns having a go independently in their busy time.
