Maths
In Maths this week, we have been focusing on ordering numbers and quantities. We have ordered numerals, cube towers, numicon shapes and ten frames. We played a game called ‘Cheeky Kangeroo’ where we had to close our eyes and the cheeky kangeroo would change the order of the numbers. The Acorns had to spot the mistake- this was very popular and caused a lot of giggling. We saw this game being played over and over again during provision time throughout the week.
UTW- History
Our theme this week has been transport. We have been learning about different ways to travel from place to place. We looked at what different vehicles look like in present times and then compared them with pictures of transport from the past. We discussed the similarities and differences we could see and how much they have changed. We could not believe the Penny Farthing bike- the Acorns were amazed by this!!
Expressive Arts and Design
This week, we have been learning how to draw a picture using the paint app on the Ipad. The Acorns listened carefully to the directions of how to open the app, select the tool they want to use and the colours they needed. They then used their fingers to ‘paint’ a picture of a vehicle. Once they had finished, they learnt how to save their picture.
Literacy- Our very own Hundred Decker Bus!
Our Drawing Club story this week has been ‘The Hundred Decker Bus’ which the Acorns found very amusing. We decided to create our very own Acorn decker bus and each of the Acorns drew their own decks. We had some rather exciting decks from swimming pools to football decks. We put them all together to create a 27 decker bus which we were rather proud of!
