Acorn Class 15th – 19th March

We visited Africa this week! We found the country on our class globe and learnt about it’s climate. We focused on Kenya and learnt about the Maasai Tribe, how to say hello in Swahili (Jambo!) and about what it would be like to go on safari. We made our own safari world on our class tuff tray and went on our own safari adventure. We grabbed our clipboards and our binoculars and wrote lists of what animals we could see!

This week, we have been learning about 3D shapes. We compared them to 2D shapes and talked about the differences. We learnt about the shape properties and names and played lots of sorting games. We listened to the 3D shape song which was very popular! Finally, we built 3D shape models, naming the shapes we used and why.

We have been revisiting some of our Phase 2 sounds this week and practising forming letters and writing words. One of our challenges was to spell words beginning with the ‘p’ sounds using the whiteboards. Look at our fantastic spelling using our phonic knowledge!

We celebrated British Science week by talking about the importance of science. We then did a variety of experiments. We predicted what would happened each time and then had fun watching what happened to see if we were right!
