Ash 19th – 23rd September 2022

Next week's learning...

English: Prepositions, diary entries.
Maths: Numbers to 100, expanded partitioning.
Science: Microhabitats.
Phonics: Phase 5 spelling recap.

Big Question: Why is it important to forgive others?

History

This week we learned more about Columbus’ journey to what he thought was Asia. We wrote diary entries imagining we worked on one of his three ships. We also were welcomed onto the “Ash Class” ship and were given a hat to commemorate.

Later on in the week we completed our learning on our first explorer. We then generated some true and false statements to quiz each other in our learning.

English

We found a suspicious box in the Little Acorn room this week and we were all very confused! We spent the first part of the week answering prediction questions to work out where we thought it had come from. We then thought it would be a great idea to make a FOUND poster to let someone know we’d found it just in case it was theirs. Before we designed our posters, we planned adjectives that we could use in partners. We then chose two of our favourite adjectives from each one to develop an expanded noun phrase.

Maths

Continuing on some learning from last week, we made numbers within 100 three ways. We looked at our number sentences and how the answer never changes but the way it is made, does. E.g. 60 + 6 = 66, 50 + 16 = 66, 40 + 26 = 66.

Recycling Week

Inspired by a book called Michael Recycle, we created our own using recycling materials.
