Maths
We started reading scales for grams and kilograms. We reminded the children of the different scales they can be counted in before experimenting with the different scales. I was so impressed with the problem solving and attitudes to missing numbers.
Later in the week we looked at capacity. We started with the words capacity and volume and experimented with different receptacles. We made predictions on whether they would fill an object quicker or slower than the other but ultimately it also brought it down to the size of it. Great discussions and teamwork.
English
We solved that our traditional tale was Jack and the Beanstalk! We started by considering the different verbs and adverbs that the characters demonstrated. This was then followed by role play of different parts of the story and the rest of the children a working out what it was through the clues.
We also had a go at retelling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We got four of the children up and interviewed them as characters.
History
This week we started all of our learning about King Henry VIII. We discovered the type of monarch he was and discovered a lot of facts about him. We created true and false statements and quizzed each other. We also had a go at completing the order of his wives and discovering why he had so many!
