Reminder
Elder class have their Seed to Tree session on Thursday morning. They will need to wear clothes appropriate for working in the woods and will also need a coat and appropriate footwear to walk to Golden Wood. Please also send your child to school with gloves as they will be using bow saws and loppers and will need to wear gloves while doing these activities.
This Seed to Tree session will replace Elder Class’s PE session from Tuesday and the children will, therefore, only need PE kits on Wednesday.
This week in brief:
In maths this week we are learning to find decimal and fraction equivalents, convert fractions to decimals, understand percentages and convert fractions to percentages.
In English this week we are learning to write a formal report and a first person narrative based on the text ‘Olive’s Army’.
In science this week we are learning to complete an investigation to find out the impact of exercise on our heart rates.
Our Big Question his week is ‘does everyone need something to believe in’?
Elder Class had their first Seed to Tree session of year 6. They went to Golden Wood and watched Steve cut down some oak trees. The children then sned the branches and made the off-cuts into a dead hedge, a habitat pile and a log pile. Mrs Bigg and I were so impressed with the children’s co-operation and work ethic. They did a great job!
