Elder Class 21st March to 25th March 2022

In maths we are learning to: solve ratio problems; calculate and use scale factors; solve problems involving ratio and proportion.

In English we are learning to: write a biography about Charles Darwin; convert personal to impersonal writing; continue a story.

In science we are learning to understand Darwin’s theory of natural selection.

Class photographs are being taken on Wednesday 30th March. Please ensure your child comes to school in their school uniform on that day and brings their PE kit to change into later.

In geography, Elder class have begun looking at National Parks and considering why they are known as the ‘breathing spaces’ of Great Britain. They studied maps and photographs to try to locate the different Parks.

As part of our work on Evolution, Elder class researched Charles Darwin and produced double-page spreads about him. They are not finished yet, but they are looking great.

Elder class had a great final Forest School session with Holly. They used dyes made from beetroot and nettles to make patterns on eggs with leaves and elastic bands. They loved the hammock swing too!

Some of Elder class had the opportunity to take part in a skateboarding session at school. They joined other children from KS2 for an introductory session to help them to learn new skills and enjoy the sport.
