Elder Class 30th January to 3rd February 2023

Our learning this week:

In maths we are learning to understand the value of digits up to three decimal places; round decimals to the nearest integer, tenth or hundredth; add and subtract decimals.

In English we are learning to write a newspaper report based on Tuesday; write a diary entry and  letter concerning evacuees.

In science we are learning to understand the constituents of a healthy lifestyle.

Our Big Question this week is ‘can we choose our emotions or do they just happen?’

In yoga, Elder class were working on their strength flows. They followed a strength flow and then adapted it with their own balances. Some of the class even became teachers and taught the rest of the class their flows.

In RE, the class had their last lesson on Buddhism. They learned the story of the elephant and the dog and made their own cartoon strip of the story.

Our class reading scrapbooks are up and running and Amelie did a great first entry about Space Boy by David Walliams.

Elder class enjoyed their enrichment day and learned lots about the Caribbean. They participated in various activities including dancing (a particular favourite), food preparation and eating (another favourite), learning Spanish, learning about the music from the area and the animals, making carnival necklaces and identifying the flags of the different islands.
