Horse Chestnut 14th-18th November

Next week’s learning:

English – We are moving onto looking at explanation texts.
Maths – We are looking at multiplying and dividing by 1 and 0.
Big Question – If you could ask God anything, what would it be?

PE:

This week, we had another look at the Spy Dance. We rehearsed the dance as a class before splitting off into pairs. In our pairs, we looked at the action and reaction move. When someone does an action such as a leg kick, their partner reacts to this move with another. This could be rolling underneath the kick.

Maths:

In maths, we looked at the 9,7 and 11 times table. We used our multiplication and division facts to help us solve calculations and word problems. We also looked at different ways of learning each table such as using our fingers and writing multiples in different ways. We also focused on our key vocabulary in our recent maths topic.

English:

In English, we looked at what makes a good narrative. We looked further into powerful verbs as well as creating our visual story plan. This helped us see the tweaks we wanted to make to the original story in preparation for writing our own versions of Escape from Pompeii.

Science:

In Science, we looked the process of heating and cooling and how it makes the state of a material change. We focused on how a solid can turn into a liquid by heating it and therefor melting. We then looked at the reverse of a liquid turning back into a solid through freezing. This then brought us onto an investigation about chocolate. We tested which temperature of water would be the best for melting chocolate the quickest. Through our experiment, we found the boiling water was the fastest.
