Next Week’s Learning:
Maths – We are looking at dividing 2 digits by 1 digits.
English – We are looking at the non-fiction text of Newspaper Writing.
Science – We are looking at food chains and food webs.
In Maths, we have been looking at multiplying 2 digits by 1 digits and then using these skills to help us to multiply 3 digits by 1 digit. We used our knowledge of the non-expanded column method to calculate this. We also looked at common misconceptions when multiplying and how to avoid these. We concluded our learning by looking at word problems, using all that we’ve learnt this week.
In English, we looked at apostrophes and how they can be used to show possession for both singular and plural nouns. The children did really well with this and we created our own sentences using apostrophes to show possession.
In Science, we began looking at food chains and how they are made up of a producer and consumers. We looked at the different scientific names such as primary consumer, secondary consumer and tertiary consumer.
In PE, we continued looking at Yoga and explored new poses such as the Fox and the Bow. We also performed our yoga routines in groups considering moving in unison and how we begin and end routines.
This week we had our first Forest Schools session. The children had some much fun spending time outside in nature. They played on a tight rope, with a sleigh, climbed trees and did some whittling!
This week we got to enjoy our belated Christmas dinner. It was really lovely to have all the children together for a little bit of festivity.
