Next week’s learning:
Maths – continuing with place value.
English – continuing to look at Escape from Pompeii.
Big question – Why doesn’t God always answer people’s prayers?
Maths:
This week, we continued looking at place value. We began by estimating numbers on a number line to 10,000. We then moved onto looking at comparing and ordering numbers. We remembered the comparison symbols from year 3 and used the terminology less than and greater than.
English:
In English, we started looking at our new book for our new topic, Escape from Pompeii. We began by making predictions on what we think the story is about. After, we then came up with our own title before the actual one was revealed. We then looked at adjectives and prepositions and how they can give a sentence more information. We then looked at senses to help us with our setting descriptions next week.
Recycling week:
This week is recycling week. We looked at two books, the Tale of Two Shoes and Once I was a cardboard box, Now I’m a book about Polar Bears. We discussed what recycling meant and why it was important. Using our creativity and recycling knowledge, we made Autumn wreathes from cardboard. Year 3 and 4 worked together and did a great job showing their cooperation learning behaviour!
