Horse Chestnut 22nd – 26th January

Next week’s learning:

English – Wolves in the Walls
Maths – Division

English:

This week, we have been focusing on different techniques to write effective sentences. We have used -ing verbs to represent animal noises and repetition for effect. We practiced our direct speech skills remembering all the important punctuation.

Maths:

We have been focusing on multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit using the column method. We began looking at the long method before moving onto the short method. We then looked at division and went back to basics. We drew our charts on our whiteboards and used place value counters to support our learning. We had to make the number and share it out equally between our rows.

Science:

We continued learning about sound, focusing on investigating it. We learnt that sound can be measured using a decibel meter. We used iPads to measure the decibels of a guitar and glockenspiel. We also measured decibels throughout the day and plotted this data on a bar chart.
