English:
This week, we explored the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the story. We used a parachute to help with our description. We thought about the rippling tremors on the ground and created a mushroom cloud of ash that we sat underneath. This helped us imagine the heaviness of the ash. We then planned our own versions of Escape from Pompeii.
Maths:
We began our new topic of Addition and Subtraction! We started by adding and subtracting 1s, 10s, 100s and 1,000s. We used a place value chart and counters to support our learning. We then looked at adding and subtracting with and without exchanges. We used the column method as our chosen method.
PE:
This week we practised our tackling and tracking skills in hockey. We then played a 2v2 game.
Science:
This week, we looked at classifying plants. We looked at both flowering and non-flowering plants. We went on a scavenger hunt, looking for different flowering and non flowering plants as well as conkers.
