Next week’s learning:
Maths – subtraction using column method
English – planning and writing Fables.
Maths:
This week in maths, we have been looking at using column method to solve sums. We began by looking at using column method with two 4-digit numbers and no exchanging. We then looked at it when we had one exchange finally answering calculations with more than one exchange.
English:
This week, we started looking at our Fables topic. We listened to three classic Fabels; The Tortoise and the Hare, The Boy who Cried Wolf and The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. After we listened to these, we discussed the idea of a moral and why they are important in stories. We then looked at creating speech for characters within Fables. We then explored turning this into direct speech. We also looked at creating sentences with subordinating conjunctions. We practiced moving them around to create new sentences.
History:
This week we learnt about Boudicca. We heard the story of how Boudicca became a fierce leader, fighting against the Romans and trying to stop parts of Britain becoming part of the Roman Empire. We learnt how her tribe attacked Colchester, London and St Albans. We created storyboards on her success and eventual defeat.
