Next Week's learning:
English: Writing a set of instructions
Maths: multiplication and division word problems
Science: Skeletons and their functions
In English this week we have been looking at our new text – How to wash a woolly Mammoth. The children have loved demonstrating the actions for our imperative verbs and using prepositions in their cleaning kit. We then followed a set of instructions to make our very own woolly mammoths. I’m sure you will agree they look great
In computing this week we looked at different parts of a computer. We used the Ipads to scan QR codes to unlock clues that we used to help us work out the answers that were missing from our sheet.
We had a great afternoon this week using glockenspiels. The children worked in pairs following the notes to perform the piece Easy E.
Stone Age Day
We have had the best day learning more about the stone age. We started the day by carrying out a range of different activities. Station 1 was making and colouring fish and meat to hang on the dryer that the children created out of wood. Station 2 was leaf printing, using a hammer and some fabric. Station 3 was creating medalions to be worn around the children’s necks. Finally, station 4 was whittling down some sticks to use to bake break over the open fire.
After break time we went outside and baked our bread. The children showed such determination whilst rolling and wrapping the bread.
We then finished off the day creating stone age fossil necklaces out of salt dough and cave paintings on our stained paper.
