We went for a walk to the Forest schools area to help with our non-chronological reports in English.

We all had great fun taking part in the whole school pancake race.

In science the children worked together to answer a question that the whole class had created.

In science we investigated the reaction between polystyrene and acetone.

The children practiced their target shooting during netball-

As part of story telling and child mental health week, we had a story teller visit throughout the week telling stories and leading activities around the theme ‘find my brave’.

In Art this week, the children made their own optical illusions based on the work of Victor Vasarely.

In maths we investigated divsion-

In science we investigated the speed of reaction between calcium carbonate and hydrochloric acid by measuring the gas that was given off.

In computing the children learnt about the parts of a laptop and created their own paper version.

In maths we used Base ten equipment to help us with our multiplications with exchange.

Lime class really enjoyed rehearsing and performing their poetry this week.

In science we investigated the rates of reactions.

In science we investigated temperature changes during chemical reactions-

On Friday we had our Kagera Day.  The children took part in a number of activities, learning about the lives of children who attend a Christian school in Tanzania.

We had a great selection of crowns for the Epiphany service-

ur learning this week (w/c 09/12/19): English: In English this week we will starting a short topic on A Christmas Carol Maths: We will be starting our new topic – this will be furthering and deepening their knowledge on multiplication and division. Science: We have finished our science topic until after Christmas when we will be beginning our Chemistry topic of Irreversible Changes.

Our last Forest School session with the Year 4s – the children had fun out in the wooded area doing Christmassy nature crafts and playing in the mud! Look at how cute the Beech Leaf Robins are!

On Thursday we had a whole day of DT – the class explored pneumatic systems then went on to design and make moving monsters. I am so proud of how well they did – I hope you all enjoyed the monsters too.

Christmas Jumper and decoration morning – what a fabulous Christmassy morning we all had. Your child will be bringing home their wonderful creations today.

Our learning this week (w/c 02/12/19): English: In English this week we will be finishing our explanation topic on robot dogs and moving on to planning and writing another one using the approach they have learned this last two weeks.  Maths: We will be starting our new topic – this will be furthering and deepening their knowledge on multiplication and division. Science: We have finished our science topic until after Christmas when we will be beginning our Chemistry topic of Irreversible Changes. 

Thursday will be a whole day of DT – the children will be researching, planning, developing and making moving monsters.

Using multilink in maths – Dylan and Imani were such a good team!

Our first Forest School session – such good fun, they loved the hammock!

Some weaving for enrichment day, they made Gods eyes and weaved onto cds, they will look amazing in the reflection area.

Our learning this week (w/c 14/10/19): English: We will be continuing with our Stone Age Boy topic this week – Lime Class will be planning and writing their own story.  Maths: Continuing with place value and addition and subtraction – looking at estimating and checking answers. Using Base 10 in maths for place value work.

In Art we have been looking at Lowry’s use of colour – he only used yellow, blue, red, black and white and mixed his own colours from there. Lime Class were experimenting with that principal slowly making the paint lighter or darker.

English – Stone Age Boy freeze frames – when they find a bear in the cave!!!

Our first class debate – would you want to live in the Stone Age or modern day? We used the squirrel to take it in turns to talk. hey came up with some great arguments and even counter-arguments.

Lime class worked so well in English this week – they were writing instructions on how to wash a woolly mammoth. In the pictures they are editing each others work.

Another great Hockey lesson with Jerry – he had them starting to play against each other in this lesson.

In science they were learning about light sources, in this activity they had to sort light sources from non light sources, there were some tricky ones – like the moon!
