Next week we are learning....

Literacy– In Literacy next week, we will be continuing to read our vehicle text ‘The Storm Whale’ where we will be planning and writing using our Story Friend ‘Octopus Opening’.

Maths– In Maths next week, we are going to be focusing on problem solving using our addition and doubling skills we have been practising the last few weeks.

Phonics– In Phonics, we will be continuing Phase 4 mastery where we will be revisiting polysyllabic words and the common exception words we are finding tricky.

UTW– Our focus next week will be ‘Under the Sea’ where we will be learning at what lives under the sea and discovering facts about different sea creatures.

This week, we have been learning...

Phonics

In Phonics, we have been focusing on using our phonetic knowledge to segment and spell words and sentences. Mrs M challenged us to write a sentence of a rather silly picture and we all had a good go! Super proud of the Acorns for such great independent writing!

Maths

In Maths, we have been exploring how to find out if a number is odd or even by sharing objects fairly. We have done this with counters, with people, with bears and with cubes. We are very good at sharing fairly in Acorn class and recognise that if there is one left over, the number must be odd!
