Next week, we are learning....
Literacy– Next week,
we will be reading the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and talking part in Drawing
Club to explore the characters and setting of the story. We are focusing on writing
a sentence using full stops, finger spaces and capital letters.
Maths– Next
week, we will be learning about teen numbers. We will be counting to 20 and
beyond and also finding different representations of these numbers.
Phonics– Next
week, we will be beginning Phase 4 of our phonics programme Unlocking Letters
and Sounds. We will be looking at words containing adjacent consonants and we
will be learning new Common Exception words ‘said’ and ‘have’.
Topic/UTW– We will
be learning about flowers this week. We will be learning about different parts
of a flower and using our creativity skills to make our own flower art. We will
also be learning what a minibeast is and what habitats they live in.
This week, we have been learning....
UTW- Growing Plants
This week, we have been learning about what a plant needs to grow. We talked about the parts of a plant and watched a video of how a plant grow learning about roots and shoots. We followed instructions on how to plant a seed and then had a go ourselves. We decided to plant bean seeds and are excited to see if we can grow some giant beanstalks.
Forest Schools
This week in forest schools we decided to have a go at making leaf soap. We went and selected special leaves around the forest school area and then mixed them up with water in containers. We also spent the afternoon hammock swinging, bug hunting, den building and making the biggest muddy hole ever!!
