This week, we have been learning....
Maths
This week, we have been focusing on the composition of the numbers 4 and 5. We have been learning how numbers can be made up of smaller numbers and beginning to think about how to create number bonds. We were inspired by an episode of Numberblocks called ‘Stampolines’ where we saw that different numbers can be seen in lots of different ways. We decided to use the multilink cubes to create our own versions. This was a very popular activity and the Acorns have continued to explore it during busy time.
Baking and Decorating Gingerbread Men
We have been enjoying the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ over the past few weeks and this week we decided to bake and decorate our own Gingerbread men. We mixed the ingredients to make the dough, then rolled the dough out so it was flat. We then cut the shapes out using a cutter and put it in the oven to bake. The next day, we used icing pens and sweets to decorate our gingerbread men and we looked forward to eating them!
