Next week, we are learning....

Literacy– Next week, we will be exploring the story of  Julia Donaldson’s ‘Stickman’. We will be drawing characters and writing captions linked to the story. We will be acting out the story and role playing some of the characters.

Maths– Next week, we will be finding different ways to compose the number 5 using part-whole models, five frames and numicon shapes. We will learn what numbers add together to make 5.

Phonics– This week, we will be revising the Phase 3 sounds and common exception words we have learnt so far and practise blending, segmenting and writing them.

Topic/UTW– Our theme this week will be Christmas. We will talk about how we celebrate Christmas and the traditions that take place over this time of year.

This week, we have been learning...

This week in Maths, we have been learning how numbers can be made up of smaller numbers. We were inspired by an episode of Numberblocks and decided to make our own Stampoline shapes using the linking cubes. We challenged the Acorns to make 3 different shapes of 5 cubes.

Gingerbread Men

We have been enjoying learning the story of the Gingerbread Man over the past few weeks and this week we decided to bake our own! We mixed the ingredients, rolled the dough and cut out our Gingerbread Man shapes. After baking them, we used icing pens to decorate them. This was great fine motor practise!! Finally we got to eat them- yum yum yum!!

Our trip to the Pantomime!

On Wednesday, we had our first ever school trip to the Pantomime. We were so excited to travel on the bus and when we arrived at the theatre, we were excited to sit in our seats and watch the show. We enjoyed the story of ‘Snow White’- we danced, we cheered and we sang! What a day!!

On Friday, we celebrated Christingle. We learnt what a Christingle is and made our own. We learnt about what each part means. We then attended a Christingle Collective Worship led by Reverend Lawson and Pam.
