This week we have been learning....

Literacy

This week we have been reading the story ‘Stickman’. We learnt some key words from the story and talked about what they meant. We then realised our very own classroom Stickman was missing! After a extensive search, we decided to make a missing poster to let the other children in the school know that Stickman is missing. We using our Drawing club skills to draw a detailed picture of Stickman and then wrote a caption using our phonic knowledge.

We continued to look for our missing Stickman for several days until Mrs M discovered some photographs on her classroom camera!! We were shocked to see the Stickman has been having a whale of a time in our classroom when we haven’t been there. We received a message from Stick Lady asking us where her Stickman was so we decided to send her the pictures and write captions to explain what he has been up too! This led to lots of messages being written during busy time for Stick Lady. We posted our letters to her in the postbox.

Maths

In Maths, we have been focusing on learning how two numbers add together to make another number. We call these number bonds. This week we focused on number bonds to 5. We used part-whole models, five frames and numicon shapes to help us explore finding different ways to make 5.
