Next Week:
Literacy– Next week we will be continuing to read our text ‘Star in the Jar’. We will be drawing our plans to describe a part of the story and writing words and captions to explain our drawings!
Phonics- Next week, we will be continuing our Phase 3 Phonics. We will be introducing and learning how to recognise and say the sounds y, z, zz, qu as well as developing our segmenting to read skills and our use of whiteboard time. We will also be practising our common exception words ‘we have learnt so far and learning the CEW ‘be’
Maths – Next week we will be finding compositions of the numbers 1, 2 and 3. Finding the different numbers hiding within a number!
Topic/UTW– Next week we will learning Remembrance Day.
This week we have been learning…
Maths – This week we have been learning how to find one less! We have used objects, number lines and pictures to help us take one away and understand that the number gets smaller.
UTW/Topic – This week we have been exploring all about bonfire night and why we celebrate it. We have learnt all about guy Fawkes and what he tried to do! We have also been making firework paints, drawings and dances!
Literacy – Acorn class really enjoyed our new book ‘Star in the Jar’ by Sam Hay. They have been totally captivated by it! We have learnt new vocabulary which we have created actions for as well as using our story friends to sequence the parts of the story.
