  • Library Books- We will always change these on a Monday afternoon.
  • Wednesday afterschool- Parents are welcome to join their children to visit school library and borrow a book.
  • Class Photos are on Friday 10th February in the morning (before lunch-phew!!).

Week Commencing 10th February 2023

We are learning this week:

Literacy- This week, our literacy focus will continue to be based around the story book ‘Bringing the Rain to Kapati Plain’. We will be invited to make a information leaflet about the animals on the Kapati Plain. We will be using non-fiction books about these animals and then write our own facts about our selected animals. We will be using the tools we have learnt over the past few weeks to write super duper sentences with full stops and finger spaces.

Maths- This week we will be focusing on combining two sets of objects and finding out how many altogether. We will introduce the addition sign and use ten frames and part-whole models to help us with our addition sentences.

Phonics– This week, we are beginning the third week of Phase 3 Mastery as part of the Unlocking Letters and Sounds scheme. We will be revisiting the phonemes ch, sh, th and ng. We will be practising reading and writing words and sentences with these phonemes in. We will also be revisiting common exception words ‘he’ and ‘she’.

Our phonemes of the week are: ch, sh, th, ng

Common Exception Word: he, she

Topic– Our overarching topic this term is ‘Would you rather?’. This week our focus will continue to be the Africa Savannah and what it would be like to visit there. We will pretend to be tourists visiting and go on our own African safari adventure, learning about the animals that live there.

This week’s Big Question is: Can we choose our emotions or do they just happen?
