Welcome to Acorn Class!

Our teacher is Mrs Marsden

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Beeton, Mrs Jackson and Mrs Taylor.

Here are some important things to remember about Acorn Class.

  • PE is on Tuesday (please remember to come to school in your P.E kits).
  • Don’t forget your water bottles
  • Don’t forget to label your uniform so we can make sure it gets back to the correct person.

Week Commencing 26th September 2022

We are learning this week:

Literacy- This week, our literacy focus will be initial letter sounds. We will be focusing on hearing the sounds at the beginning of the words and sorting objects to match the corresponding phoneme.

Maths- This week we are focusing on comparing amounts and size. We will be using the vocabulary ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ to describe different groups of objects. We will then compare size using the vocabulary ‘big’, ‘medium’ and ‘small’.

Phonics– This week, we are starting our third week of the Unlocking Letters and Sounds Phonics. We will be learning the phonemes g,o,c,k and practising reading and writing words with these sounds. We will also be practising our oral blending skills and remembering the actions to each phoneme.

Our Sounds of the week are: g,o,c,k

Topic– Our topic this term is ‘Who Am I?’. This week our UTW lesson will be based on the body. We will be learning and naming parts of the body and finding out why it is important to look after ourselves.

This week’s Big Question is: Why doesn’t God always answer people’s prayers?
