Horse Chestnut Class, 2nd-4th September

Next week’s learning:

English – Exploring The Whale, writing poems and descriptions

Maths – partitioning in different ways, number lines

Science – grouping animals

Maths:

This week, we started our first topic of the year: Place Value. We recapped our knowledge of representing and partitioning numbers to 100. We then progressed to representing numbers to 1,000. We used place value counters to do this.

English:

This week, we did a vote for our class reading book: The Land of Roar. We also began looking at our class text, The Whale. This book is only pictures and we pieced them together to make a prediction about the story.

PSHE:

In PSHE, we discussed feelings and emotions. We also spoke about why we have different feelings using The Day the Crayons quit to support our understanding. We then drew pictures of our safe spaces and how we feel when we’re in them.
