This week in Willow Class we will be:
English: This is our last week on our Shackleton topic. We will be focusing mainly on writing a newspaper article, looking at the features and various writing styles needed within one.
Maths: In maths this week we are continuing to look at multiplication and division. We will be focusing on division with remainders and solving problems involving multiplication and division.
Science – This term we will be looking at properties of materials. Our next lesson is on electrical conductors.
Big Question – How can we protect our planet?
Have a look below to see what we’ve been up to this week:
Their first yoga lesson this term.
In computing, we were calculating how many double decker buses would make up the distance from earth to Mars!
In art on Thursday, the class began adding their flour and water resist to some cotton fabric. They used their sketches from last lesson to think about the main outlines of Starry Night. Next week we will begin the process of adding the first layer of colour.
In science on Friday we were looking at properties of materials – transparency, hardness and magnetism. We used magnets on different surfaces in the classroom and also on a range of coins. Noting that 5p and 10ps made after 2012 were magnetic because of the addition of steel. 5p and 10p coins before this date were not magnetic.
