Next week, we are learning...
Literacy– Next week,
we will be reading the story ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy. We will be taking
part in Drawing Club to draw and write about the characters in the story and
creating a new adventure for Baby Bear to go on.
Maths– Next
week, we will be focusing comparing length and height. We will learn vocabulary
linked to these 2 topics and ordering and measuring objects through their
length and height.
Phonics– Next
week, we will continue Phase 3 Mastery of our phonics programme Unlocking
Letters and Sounds. We will be revisiting the phonemes ai, ee, igh, oa and
common exception words ‘was’ and ‘you’
Topic/UTW– We will
be introducing the theme of ‘Space’. We will learn some information about Space
and ordering the planets using our inflatable resources. We will be enjoying
our new role play area of a Space Station and completing astronaut missions.
This week we have been learning…
Literacy
We have been reading the story ‘We’re Going on a Lion Hunt’ story and have been enjoying being story tellers. We created story maps using the settings and characters from the story. Later on in the week, we decided to pick a new character and new settings to innovate our story maps and then created brand new versions of the story.
Valentines day
We had lots of Valentine’s Day themed activities in our provision this week. We had a finger gym heart challenge, heart collages in the creative area and a Valentine’s Day post office in our writing area.
UTW- Floating and Sinking
We have been learning about floating and sinking in our Understand of the World lesson. We talked about the difference between floating and sinking and then experimented with different objects to see what they would do when dropped in water. We loved predicting what we thought would happen! We discovered that objects made from wood tended to float however metal objects would sink.
