This week, we have been learning....

UTW- Shrove Tuesday

On Tuesday, we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. We learnt about why it is celebrated and how it is celebrated. We then opened up Acorn Class Pancake Cafe! We all wrote our orders of what we wanted on our pancakes and then we took it in turns to pick an order, make the pancake and then serve it to our friends. We encouraged the Acorns to practise their cutting skills when eating their pancakes too!

EAD- Heart Collages

Our classroom was filled with love on Wednesday for Valentines Day. We have been learning about collages and last week had a go at making animal patterns using a collage technique. This week, we had a go at the using the collage technique to make our own heart collages. We used glue to cover the heart template and then stuck coloured paper over the top. We had to think about shape and size to make sure the entire heart was covered.

UTW- Lunar New Year

On Thursday, we joined forces with Oak Class to celebrate Lunar New Year! We learnt about the traditions of this celebration and watched a video of a Lunar New Year festival and parade. We loved the lion and dragon dances! We took part in the chopstick challenge and tasted some Chinese food. We made ‘Happy New Year’ banners and Chinese dragons. We also made paper lanterns and took part in a Chinese number hunt. Gung Hay Fat Choi!
