This week, we have been learning...
UTW- Snails
This week, our focus minibeast has been snails. We learnt about the different parts of the a snail and how they move, where they live and what they eat. We are lucky enough to have our very own Giant African Land Snails as our class pets. They are called Speedy and Turbo. The Acorns held them in their hands and studied the different parts they could see including their feelers and their one foot!
Literacy- Supertato!
One morning, our fruit for our snack had gone missing! We discovered that it had been taken by the Evil Peas! We read the story Supertato and wrote speech bubbles of what the poor fruit had been saying. We spent the morning searching for the Evil Peas and managed to locate them. We made traps to keep them safe. Later on, we made our own Supertatoes using real potatoes and these kept watch over our captured peas until we could safely put them back in the freezer where they belong!
Caterpillars
Over the past few weeks, we have been watching our caterpillars turn into chrysalis’. It has been exciting to check on them every day to see the changes. This week, they finally emerged into butterflies. We were so excited as we watched one emerge in front of us!! We have enjoyed watching them this week and discovering their different parts and researching what type of butterfly they are. We are going to release them at the end of the week.
