Next week, we are learning....
Literacy– Next week, our focus story will be ‘The Leaf Thief’ by Alice Hemming. We will be taking part in drawing club linked to this book and also focusing on our segmenting to spell skills.
Maths– Next week, we will be focusing on patterns. We will recognise that patterns are a repeated unit and focusing on continuing and creating our own patterns.
Phonics– Next week, we will continuing Phase 2 of our Phonics scheme ‘Unlocking Letters and Sounds’. Our focus sounds this week will be l, ll and ss. We will also be introducing our next common exception words ‘go’.
Topic/UTW– Our theme this week will focus on Autumn. We will be going on a Autumn walk around the school grounds to search for signs of Autumn. We will also be learning about Harvest and baking our own hedgehog bread rolls.
This week, we have been learning....
UTW- The 5 senses
The Acorns have been learning about the five senses. We talked through each one and discussed things that link to each sense. Mrs M then challenged the Acorns to link some of the items in her tray to the correct sense. Our favourite one was tasting the lemon- we made some rather funny sour faces!!
Maths- One More
This week, we have been learning about how to find one more. We made numberblock towers to show 1,2,3,4,5 and noticed how as each number increases, one more block is added. We then had a go at adding one more bear to a bus ten frame. We rolled a dice, put that amount on the bus and then picked up one more bear at the bus stop. We counted to see how many we had now!
EAD- Art Enrichment Morning
On Friday morning, the whole school had a art enrichment morning. Our artist was Wassily Kandinsky. We learnt about his history and we looked at his artwork. We noticed he focused on colours, shapes and lines. We explored the skill of printing by dipping different shapes into paint and printing them onto card. We were really impressed with our final pieces.
