This week, we have been learning.....
Literacy/UTW- The 3 Little Pigs
This week, we have been reading the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have been comparing different versions and talking about which parts we like and dislike. We talked about the houses the pigs built and learnt about different types of houses and homes. Mrs M challenged the Acorns to design and build a house strong enough to withstand the huff and the puff of the Big Bad Wolf. We enjoyed a busy morning of drawing designs, building and every time we thought we had built a house strong enough, we dropped tools and went to huff and puff. The good news is all houses were still standing! Phew!
P.E
This week we have been focusing on catching and throwing. We learnt how to under arm through and then how to catch using both hands. We had to think about how high and how hard we threw to make sure it was easier to catch.
Maths- Comparing capacity
We have been comparing measures this week looking at size, mass and capacity. We learnt what capacity means and introduced the vocabulary full, half full and empty. We challenged the Acorns to fill the cups of water showing these three different states of capacity. It also helped us practise our pouring skills too!
