Next week, we are learning...
Literacy– Next week,
we will be reading the story ‘The Queens Hat’ and drawing and writing about the
characters in the story. We will be focusing on writing labels this week.
Maths– Next
week, we will be learning about 3D shapes. We will introduce the mathematical
language to name and describe each 3D shape. We will be building models using
3D shapes and exploring their properties.
Phonics– Next
week, we will continue Phase 3 Mastery of our phonics programme Unlocking
Letters and Sounds. We will be revisiting the Phase 3 Common Exception words
this week.
Topic/UTW– We will
be learning about London this week. We will be locating London on a map and
exploring transport and landmarks in the capital city. We will also be learning
about a figure from the past- Queen Elizabeth I.
This week we are learning….
Literacy
We read the story of ‘The Hundred Decker Bus’ and was inspired to create our own! We each drew and wrote a sentence about our new deck and then put it altogether to create our own ‘21 Decker Bus!’. We had so much fun adding each one to it and watching it get taller and taller!
UTW- Vehicles
This week, we have been learning all about vehicles. We talked about different types of vehicles and our experience with them. We learnt about how transport has changed from the past to the present- we found the Penny Farthing very funny! We were also lucky enough to have some visits from some rather interesting vehicles. We had a Tesla visit- we were amazed about all the features it had and compared them to a petrol car. We loved watching it ‘dance’!
EAD- Transport Pictures
We learnt how to use the Paint App on our class Ipads to draw our own transport pictures. We learned how to change colour and thickness of pen to draw our pictures. We also learnt how to fill shapes in with colour and to erase something if we made a mistake. They were so impressive!
