Next week, we are learning....

Literacy– Next week, we will be writing predictions. We will use our phonic knowledge to write sentences remembering full stops, finger spaces and capital letters.

Phonics– Next week, we will begin Phase 4 Mastery of our Unlocking Letters and Sounds programme. We will be looking at adjacent consonants at the beginning of words and revisiting common exception words ‘said’ and ‘have’.

Topic/UTW– Our theme this week will be dinosaurs. We will be learning facts about dinosaurs and investigating what dinosaurs eat.

This week, we have been learning....

UTW- Snails

This week, we have been learning all about snails. We learnt about how they move and the different parts of their body. Did you know a snail has one foot? We decided to take a closer look at our class pets, two Giant African Land Snails. Some of the Acorns were brave enough to give them a hold, others opted to study from afar!

UTW- Releasing of the butterflies!

We have been observing our caterpillars over the last few weeks and watched them transform into chrysalises. We very patiently waited for over a week and then we were so excited to find 5 butterflies in our net. We worked out what type of butterfly they were and watched them feed on some fruit and flowers. On Monday, we decided it was time to let them free so we let them go on the field and enjoyed watching them flutter away.

Literacy- Supertato

Over the last few weeks, we have been looking at the story of ‘Supertato’ and some rather strange happenings have been appearing in Acorn class. We discovered our fruit for snack had been caught by the evil pea and we had to rescue them from their traps. We wrote speech bubbles of what the poor characters would be saying. We managed to find the evil peas and made traps to keep them safe until Supertato came to rescue. However we discovered they had gone missing again and this time they left some CCTV footage on them in sneaky hiding places around school. We made missing posters and put them up around school to let everyone know they needed to look out for the missing evil pea. You will be relieved to know we finally found them and they are now safely in the freezer where they belong!
