We have had a great second week in Acorn Class! We have been practicing our listening skills even further in Phase 1 Phonics. The children have really impressed me with their ability to identify some initial sounds in words, orally segment and blend. We have begun our double point challenges which have really excited the children. The children also made some brilliant portraits thinking about their skin, eye and hair colour!
Next week:
Literacy– Next week, we will be exploring our first text ‘The Something’ by Rebecca Cobb and start using our story sequencing skills as well as making emergent marks for writing.
Phonics– Next week, we will be starting our Phase 2 Phonics. We will be introducing and learning how to recognise and say the sounds s, a, t, p as well as developing our oral blending skills.
Maths – We will be bringing our first Maths lessons with White Rose Maths. Our first week we will be learning all about matching and creating ‘sets’.
Topic/UTW– We will be continuing our theme of ‘Who Am I’ , exploring ‘how we have changed’ in our UTW lesson by looking at baby photos of ourselves. In Art we will be thinking about making portraits of our whole family using loose parts and we will be having our first RE lesson as well.
