Elder Class 11th to 15th September 2023

Our learning this week:

In maths this week we are learning to understand powers of ten; compare and order numbers to 10 million; round numbers to a given degree of accuracy; understand negative numbers in context.

In English this week we are learning to understand character giving evidence from the text; write a character description; write in role as a character.

In science this week we are learning to group organisms due to observed characteristics.

Our big question this week is ‘why is it important to be part of a community?’

Elder class enjoyed their first proper rehearsal with Annie from the Theatre Royal. The began by looking at the prologue and practising their sequences to get onto the stage and into position. Some of the class have already learnt their lines, which is amazing!

Congratulations to Italia for winning the Stowmarket Lawn Tennis Club Championships for the age 12 years and under at the weekend. We are really proud of you!

In English we are studying ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. The children made missing posters for Bottom. They used their drafting, revising and editing skills.

Some of our Elder class children led the whole-school assembly on Thursday. They spoke clearly and showed great independence in choosing children to answer questions. We are very proud of them.
