Willow 11th – 15th September 2023

This week in Willow Class we will be:

English: This week we will be starting our new topic on a picture book called The Island. We will be looking at the concept of being a refugee and focusing on planning and holding a class debate.

Maths: Continuing with place value this week, our focus will be on comparing numbers to 1,000,000 and rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 etc within 1,000,000.

Science – Our topic in science is forces – this week we will be looking at the planning and investigating using parachutes.

Big Question – What is faith?

Have a look below to see what we’ve been up to this week:

In art this week, Willow finished their pieces of art inspired by Chris Offilli, adding layers of different materials and then paint patterns on laminate overlays.

In science on Friday we were looking at air resistance. We discussed that it is a type of friction and occurs between the air and a moving object. We used a flat piece of paper and a screwed up piece of paper to illustrate this. Also the class all got to have a go with the running parachute to see (and feel) the affects of air resistance first hand.
